Memes are a big part of the internet and social media in our generation. The word meme was created by Richard Dawkins in 1976 in his book, “The Selfish Gene.” It was made to explain the cultural speeds, which explains “internet memes.” Internet memes is a concept which connects to culture and environment of the internet. Memes carry cultural ideas or different types of symbols and practices. Memes are spread from one to another by the form of speeches, writing, and gestures on almost all types of social media platforms. Memes are universal; no matter who you are or where you live, you can relate to them. According to 40 Heritage High school students, the main reason teenagers love memes is because they are humorous and they are relatable. More memes are spread all over the internet and become viral every minute of the day. So many people truly love memes because they can change their day from being bad to good just through the entertainment and humor of one simple picture.
